Cable broadband is popular in the UK and is an alternative
to ADSL broadband, to get cable broadband you need to
live in an area that can receive cable services but
most of the UK can receive these cable services. Cable
broadband works in much the same way as ADSL, it is
just the method that the data is transported which is
different. You can sign up for cable broadband online
easily and there are lots of cable broadband providers,
the prices are also quite cheap although they are not
usually as cheap as ADSL.
A cable broadband connection uses a modem just like
other broadband connections and most cable broadband
providers give a free cable modem with the cable broadband
package. Setting up the cable broadband on your computer
is then easy, you simply connect the cable modem to
your computer using the USB cable and then run the
installation software that came with the cable broadband
package. There are not so many cable broadband providers
as there are ADSL providers but you can get cable
broadband packages from the likes of AOL, NTL and
Telewest online and some offer some very cheap deals.
One of the great advantages of cable broadband is that you
can often get it packaged in with other cable services and
therefore save allot of money as these packages are often
very cheap, they often include telephone and digital television
so you can get lots more from cable besides your broadband
connection. Companies such as NTL and Telewest offer excellent
packages which include broadband, digital television and all
of your telephone calls and they are very cheap so if you
use digital television and a home telephone then one of these
combined cable broadband packages can save you allot of money.
