Broadband Modems Welcome to the Broadband Modems page, most broadband
packages come with a free broadband modem but there
are often times when you may need to buy a new modem
for your broadband connection, your old modem may develop
a fault or you may wish to buy a better broadband modem
with more features such as a router with a built in
broadband modem.
There are several types
of broadband modem, firstly it depends on what type
of broadband you have as they all have their own types
of modem. These include ADSL, cable and satellite with
most broadband modems that you can buy online being
ADSL as ADSL is the most popular type of broadband connection.
So you need to make sure that the broadband modem that
you buy matches the broadband connection that you have
as if they do not it will not work.
Then there are two different forms of modem, internal and external.
An internal modem has to be fitted into your computer so requires
some technical knowledge, this is quite easy though as it is
usually a matter of removing the computer case and inserting
the modem into a free PCI slot. There are then external broadband
modems which are the most popular and are the type that usually
come with broadband packages, external modems are much easier
to use as you simply have to connect them to your computer using
a USB cable.
There is also other networking equipment that you can buy that
includes a broadband modem which is usually an ADSL modem, these
include routers and wireless routers which allow you to easily
