Welcome to the Satellite broadband page, Satellite broadband
uses a satellite dish to receive broadband in much the
same way that satellite television works. Satellite broadband
is as fast as ADSL broadband and is secure but is more
expensive as you have to have a satellite dish. The main
reason for having satellite broadband is that you cannot
get ADSL or cable broadband in some areas of the UK so
if you live in one of those areas then satellite broadband
ay be your only option if you need the speed that broadband
offers.
The problem with satellite
broadband is the cost and and the availability, it costs
more than the other main types of broadband and you
also need equipment such as a satellite dish and a satellite
broadband modem. There are also not as many providers
as there are so few people that need satellite broadband
so it can be harder to find a satellite broadband provider
and as there is little competition the prices are generally
higher.
